Cre8Buzz Publish, Rank, Socialize.

cre8buzzCre8Buzz is a new social networking site that promises to give a platform and a megaphone to the little guy. The idea is that by publishing content to the site, bloggers (and others, though I am primarily interested in what it can do for bloggers), can generate buzz, or exposure, for their blog and themselves.

Your Space, Your Way

The system allows you to modify your profile page through a simple and easy to use CSS enabled editing screen. You can use markup and CSS to rearrange and restyle your page, and drop in the available elements of the page through special tags. the personalization is much easier and more powerful than that offered by, say, MySpace.

Content is King, and friends are Queen

Functionality is offered to allow you to add your writing, photos and even video to your profile, and other members can vote on "buzz rank" this content. As people rank your content, it effects your personal buzz rank which is tracked for both the entire network, and for the main "group" you are a part of.

Members can add each other as friends, add each other to address books to facilitate communication, post to personal blogs, comment on each others blogs and profiles as well as communicate through group messages and group forums.

One Small Step For Antman, One Giant Leap For Antmankind.

Currently in a limited private beta, the network is fairly small and personal, though as it is set to open to the public, that could change significantly if enough buzz is generated to bring in a lot of new profiles.

Without a peek into the inner workings of the algorithm, the only thing I can point to for certain is that more prolific members who post more content will ultimately have higher buzz ranks simply because they will give more people more opportunities to rank their content. Quality should also help with getting higher buzz ranking, but I suspect that quantity will be the easier and more used path to fame here if the antman isn't careful and vigilant.

Renovating The Anthill

Some areas that need improvement are navigation throughout the site, the ability to use anchor text in blog posts and increasing interconnectedness of relevant profiles and content from one user to another.

Also it would be good if members could associate various portions of their content or profiles with different main groups. Currently, while you can change groups at any time, you can only belong to one at a time, and all of your content belongs to that one group. To make this completely workable for me, I would need five or six profiles, and that just isn't feasible.

Does This Thing Work?

Many members sure seem to think so. And I would say that with the proper planning and participation you should be able to get great results from the site. Here's a post on the Cre8Buzz blog where several members have submitted cre8Buzz success stories.

I don't think the design is any worse than MySpace!
Although nothing I've seen compares to SpicyPage...
If you have any invites left, I'd love to get one

I think there is a quality

I think there is a quality design in place. It's purpose is to serve as a palette for members to create their own designs and in that respect it's among the best there is. Unless I completely missed your point.

I think that the lack of quality design will really hurt Cre8Buzz from becoming a popular social network.
