One Heck Of An Easy Way To Get A Link From Me

Pssst... Want a link from Dane Morgan? There are a number of ways to do so. You could always write some killer software that I really like a lot, or a great blog post could do it to.

Everyone is looking for links. The more the better, right? It's all about advertising and getting your word out there. Now, if you can grab a cool link here and there without having to do anything extra to get them, that's obviously just a cool bonus.

EntrecardAnother way to do it though, is a lot easier. Just drop your Entrecard on me. that's right. Drop your card, and you'll automatically get your link on this blog.

The nine most recent drops are right there on the front page in the side bar, and a bunch more are included on the Recent Entrecard Drops page.

And don't forget to drop you card again tomorrow to get your link back in the mixture!

All of this happens automagically without you or I having to do anything else. Go ahead and drop your card. As soon as the blog checks my inbox again, it will post your link. It might take a few minutes, so feel free to read a couple more posts, and even leave a comment or two, then check back and you'll see your link right here on the blog.

Another way to get a link to your site here...

Pay for some advertising on Dane's sidebar. It's really not that expensive. So far, for me, it has been money well spent.

OK, so this method doesn't really have any SEO benefits, but traffic is traffic, and who really cares where it comes from as long as you get it. Right? :-D

Cool Beans!

Hey, I've not really had any feedback on the PW ads here. I've mostly left them up as a placeholder for future ad spots that will likely be affiliate ads. But if someones really getting results they are happy with, I may leave them there. Though, I'm pretty sure at some point I'll kill the little buttons down there low in the side bar.

And, you are so right. People get so caught up in search traffic that they lose sight of the fact that there are so many ways to get traffic to your site that don't involve Google.

Thanks for the plug!

It's pretty cool that you

It's pretty cool that you have this. I never even knew it was possible to do such a thing. Anyway, I've dropped my card. :)

Thanks Sly

I appreciate the drop!

I'm going to take a pretty lax approach to linking in the comments here, especially as I'm moving to a more commentary type blog. More of what I think about stuff, ideas and tests, less hard tutorials and reviews.

But, at least give me a deep link to an interesting article, man! Don't just link to the same page you linked you name to in the comment. ;)

Dane Morgan | Wed, 08/27/2008 - 23:41

Nice but...

Nice but this link is only for recent entries and will eventually disappear.

SEO Consultant (not verified) | Thu, 08/21/2008 - 18:07

That kind of works for me

I mean since I'd certainly like folks to drop more rather than less, it kind of works for me that it's to your advantage to come by and drop again tomorrow or the next day, right?

Of course the link in your comment is nice and permanent.

Dane Morgan | Fri, 08/22/2008 - 23:03

Where is the list?

This is interesting. But i cant see the list?

Motorbeam.com (not verified) | Thu, 08/21/2008 - 12:24

You can find the list on the front page

in the "left" sidebar with the last nine drops. Also you can find the last eighty drops list here. http://danemorgan.com/recent-entrecard-drops

Entrecard Popularity

Do you know how popular Entrecards are with other bloggers? It seems like a great way to share links, but this is the first I have ever heard of the service, but I'm pretty new to blogging so that could be the reason. Thanks for the information.

Miles (not verified) | Wed, 08/20/2008 - 16:40

Well, it all depends

I'm not sure what percentage of all people with blogs is using the service, and I'd expect that that is a smallish number. On the other hand the number of bloggers using the service compared to the number of bloggers using any other given blogging service would definitely place Entrecard in the popular category.

Just look around for the big gold 'E' like the one on top of my side bar when you are surfing blogs and you be bound to start seeing it here and there while you read. Just be sure to hit the drop button when you do.

Define "killer"

What constitutes as "killer software"? I may have already written something you might like. ;-)

I have absolutely no hopes of ever dropping an EC here, or anywhere else for that matter, since I can't even get an EC account.

Their site always malfunctions when I try. I have tried with different browsers, different pc's even different isp's, all with no luck. After hitting submit I always get the same generic error message and some crap about them using whips to fix it.

app (not verified) | Fri, 08/15/2008 - 23:20

I suppose in this context killer means I like it a lot...

That actually reads like a pretty useful little utility for work at home types, but you know what would make it killer?

Store all of those work periods and break periods in a database and add in some reporting functions that would allow me to analyze my work and break habits over time. For bonus points let me create a report for a specific period so I can compare my activity during more productive periods versus less productive periods.

Dane Morgan | Fri, 08/15/2008 - 23:47

It's already in my plans

Did you want all of that for free, too?

Current version is freeware/donationware.

Most of what you have suggested (and a whole lot more) is already planned for the pro version, but I am not too sure when I'll be able to begin work on that. I need to save up money for a new computer first.

app (not verified) | Sat, 08/16/2008 - 01:46

Nah, I like when people get paid!

I'm all for people getting paid for a decent tool. The "free" mentality is really doing more harm to the people getting the free stuff than good in a lot of cases, especially with tools like what you are proposing. Let me know when you make the pro version and I'll link to it for sure.

link exchange by comments

I do drop my EC. How 'bout commenting in this blog, is there any backlink? If you comment in my blog you'll have backlink straight to your blog. and...it's juicy!

Pandu-Blogging For Profit (not verified) | Mon, 08/11/2008 - 03:25

Yes comments are followed here

I'm a big believer in dofollow, and have been for a long time. Comments here are followed.

That said, it isn't to much of a reach to believe that Google can tell the difference between a link in a blog article and a blog comment. This is not to say that a comment link can not be valuable, but that if Google knows the difference, one in the article may be more valuable.

Dane Morgan | Mon, 08/11/2008 - 06:39

can we do a link exchange?

can we do a link exchange? or you write a blog for me and i put up your link

link building (not verified) | Sun, 08/10/2008 - 06:14

I don't do straight link exchanges as such

Hi Syed,

Thanks for coming by and for leaving a comment.

I don't do straight link exchanges as a rule, but Your blog is certainly in the right niche for an relational exchange. If you'd like to do a guest blog post and link back to your blog from it, I'd be happy to publish it.

One thing I would like to mention real quickly is that I understand the method you are using in your post on using Google alerts to find blogs posting about your keywords so that you can leave comments and get the link back from them. I do the same thing myself.

But I sure hope that most of your comments aren't simply asking for a link exchange as you did here. You'll get a lot more direct traffic if you actually post something that the folks reading the post would find a useful or helpful addition to the post.
