Promoting your blog through feed directories and aggregators can bring in some of the best traffic you'll get. On top of the traffic, it helps seed your link further out into the blogosphere and bring those little lovable search spiders around to visit. I'm testing out a new (well, new to me) Feed/Blog Directory called rssHugger. Not a lot of info yet, but I share what I know and I'll follow up on this later.

I submit that we have an obligation to our readers to post within the boundaries of our blog's stated topic. When we vary from this topic we violate their trust and fill their inboxes and feed readers with information that they do not want. If they want to read about other topics, they will be subscribed to other sources that offer that content. We owe it to them to give them what we promised when they subscribed, and not force them to also accept our messages on other points that may, at best, be annoyingly irrelevant to them and at worst, deeply offensive.

AideRSS is a clever new service for ranking feeds by the quality of their posts. Posts that garner more attention by way of links and comments are scored higher than posts that do not manage to involve the community as well. Very cool.

Everywhere you turn these days there are product review blogs for nearly anything you can imagine. Now, some of these blogs are done well and some are done really, really badly.

Tagging has been with us for some time now, and has done a lot of good for bloggers and blog readers. Tags take searching to the next step of finding. Searching means typing in words and getting results based on pages containing those words. That's not bad, but when you compare it to finding pages that people have associated with those words, the difference between searching and finding becomes huge.
