The Blog Solution: Weapon Of Mass Blogging
Wow.
The Blog Solution Is an entirely scaleable multiblog generator. It is equally suitable for building and tending a few hand crafted, lovingly nurtured pure blogs or for launching a full out keyword based blog assault.
For building blogs there are three modes.
- First there is 1×1 mode which allows you to create a single blog and completely control it’s creation. You select the title, subtitle template and a few other variables, click a button and bam, you have a new blog created in a subdomain or subdirectory on your site. You can add some feeds to aggregate and suplement your own posting, or just post all your own posts. This means any time you atre ready to add another blog to your domain, you just go in and fill in the form and off you go. No messy installations.
- Second there is mass mode. This mode lets you type in the parameters for several blogs at once in a single text area. You just enter the blogs one to a line with a # sign seperating each bit of data, push the go button and bam. Mutliple blogs, instantly created. You can create two or ten or twenty or however many you like this way, complete with feeds to agregate and your own titles and descriptions.
- Finally there is mass keyword mode. This mode is truely staggering in it’s implications. It’s also a lot of fun. What you do is type (or copy and paste) a bunch of keywords into a text area, type some feed URI templates into another text area and hit the go button. That’s it. That’s all you do. I did this to try it out and 2 minutes latter I had 207 brand new blogs. Again, Wow.
The neat part is that the blogs will all be inteligently interlinked but not excessively interlinked automatically. The software places the blogs into levels and groups and links them together in a logical sequence that will lead any spiders through the entire mass of your blog empire without excessively cross linking them.
You can edit any blog through the editor feature, though currently you can only edit one blog at a time. There is no mass editing function yet. But I’m told that there are plans to introduce at least a mass template assignment feature.
Speaking of templates. You can create as many templates as you like and as The Blog Solution creates your blogs it will randomly assign them to the various templates. Then you can go in and assign a specific template to a specific blog if that tickles your fancy.
Okay, now for some fun. Say you just loaded this program up and it built you 207 blogs. Then being somewhat ADD and child like in nature, you just had to see it do it again. So loading up some more keywords you end up with 457 blogs.
How on earth are you going to type up 457 posts for all these blogs? And do it again every day or every four hours or every… however often you would like to update them? Well, you click on the “agregate / Update Blogs” link, of course. Then The Blog Solution goes out to the feeds you’ve selected for each blog and updates them from those feeds. And it counts them up for you, letting you know how many blogs it has updated, but not yet pinged.
Another problem you say? How on earth will you keep track of which blogs were pinged and wich still need it? Well, the programers relaized you have to sleep sometimne, and the put in a “ping blogs” link which will ping all of the blogs that have been updated. It does this in the background, so you are free to go about other tasks while it does it. You can come back and refresh the page now and then to moitor it’s progress, and I have to admit that this has been a bit of fun for me so far.
To top all of this off you can also set up links throughout the system from a central location. You can set them up to be in the “my friends” link section which makes them kind of like a blogroll. The second kind is a post link that will actually appear as a part of the post. You can assign a given link to different blog groups, assign them to all level one or all level two blogs, or assign them across all of your blogs. You can even assign them to one individual blog through it’s blog id. And in the case of post links you can assign a percentage chance that it will appear on any given blog.
This has to be about the most flexible, scalable mass blogging solutions available anywhere on the internet. Whatever your desire for multi blogging, The Blog Solution has you covered.
Now there are a few things about the system that to me are not ideal. For one you can’t include any PHP in the templates, so a lot of things I’d like to add into the blogs isn’t available. Another issue is the idea of being able to mass edit blogs, I’d really like to see that functionality. I’d like to see the addition of site maps for each blog and perhaps for the main directory of the blogs as well, and possibly a calendar archives system to make the blogs look even more bloggy.
The abiliaty to assign author names to blogs and posts would be nice too, perhaps drawn from a central pool and assigned to each blog at creation.
Still in all The Blog Solution is the most complete solution on the market, and given the very active support forum, I can only see it getting better. Probably in ways I haven’t even thought of yet.
I give The Blog Solution two thumbs up.
